This exam is based on the article, Improving Motor Efficiency in Constant Speed Applications and counts as 1 Contact Hour (0.1 CEU) of elevator-industry continuing education credit. Approved by: NAEC for CET/CAT and NAESA for QEI.

Learning Objective - After reading this article, you should be able to:

  • how an AC motor Works
  • how "power factor" relates to the efficiency of a motor
  • the kinds of losses present in a motor
  • the benefits to saving energy, outside of reducting an energy bill
  • how motor efficiency can be increased without sacrificing performance
  • other options for saving energy, and where they are applicable

    Testing Procedures:

    Once the applicant has paid for the exam they will receive the article in PDF format by email. The test will be given online and will consist of 10 multiple choice questions.

    Enrollment Procedures:

    1. Register and pay online with a credit card.
    2. You will receive an email confirmation with the article and instructions for taking the exam.
    3. Study article.
    4. Use the provided online link, ID, and Password to login to the Online Testing Center.
    5. If you scored 80% or above, you will receive your one contact hour certificate of credit via email.
