This exam is based on the article Elevator Hoisting: Maximizing Performance of Ropes in Existing and "Improved" High-Demand Installations and counts as 1 Contact Hour (0.1 CEU) of elevator-industry continuing education credit. Approved by: NAEC for CET/CAT and NAESA for QEI.
Learning Objective - After reading this article, you should be able to:
explain why ropes may not last as long as expected.
know the factors affecting rope life.
evaluate the lifespan of hoist ropes.
give an overview of standard maintenance practices of hoist ropes.
know the proper means of tensioning hoist ropes and how to check them for equal tension.
properly document hoist-rope maintenance procedures.
know the best installation practices for hoist ropes.
Testing Procedures:
Once the applicant has paid for the exam they will receive the article in PDF format by email. The test will be given online and will consist of 10 multiple choice questions.
Enrollment Procedures:
1. Register and pay online with a credit card.
2. You will receive an email confirmation with the article and instructions for taking the exam.
3. Study article.
4. Use the provided online link, ID, and Password to login to the Online Testing Center.
5. If you scored 80% or above, you will receive your one contact hour certificate of credit via email.
